As we wrap up another year, I’ve been given the privilege of delivering fabric’s holiday message—an honor that feels both humbling and meaningful. So, I took some time to reflect, dictate my thoughts, polish them up, and here we are.
As a proud boomer who’s seen a few seasons come and go, I’ve found that this time of year always stirs a bit more sentimentality and reflection. The holidays and the new year bring a unique blend of nostalgia and hope. And as we stand on the threshold of 2025, these feelings resonate even more deeply.
Professionally, the past few years have been anything but typical. Since 2019, we’ve lived through a whirlwind of disruptions, and the idea of a “baseline year” has felt almost mythical. My professional wish for 2025 is that it becomes that year—a foundation upon which we can rebuild predictability and stability.
While “normal” may remain elusive, I have a sense that 2025 can serve as the beginning of a new chapter. Yes, challenges like potential supply chain strikes and the ever-evolving dynamics of a new administration are on the horizon. But through it all, there’s room for optimism—a belief that we can set the stage for a stronger 2026 and beyond.
As someone with retail at heart, I’m rooting for a solid year for the industry. Retail is a lifeline for so many—whether they’re hourly employees or corporate team members—and when the industry thrives, the positive ripple effects touch countless lives. It’s heartening to see retailers succeed, whether or not they’re part of the fabric family. After all, when retail does well, so do the platforms, integrators, and consultants who support them.
On the personal front, things are never quite as straightforward. Life, after all, is a complex tapestry of highs and lows. We celebrate births and mourn losses. We rekindle old friendships and nurture new ones. We face career shifts, financial changes, and the unpredictable ebb and flow of everyday life.
For all of us navigating these experiences, my personal wish is simple yet profound: May 2025 bring you as much peace and love as you so richly deserve. These two forces—peace and love—are transformative. With love in your life, whether it’s at home, at work, or among friends, you can weather any storm. And with peace, you can find the strength to navigate even the roughest waters—and perhaps lend a hand to others in need.
So, as we close the book on this year and look ahead to the next, I hope you take a moment to reflect on the love and peace in your life—and how you might share those gifts with others. Here’s to a holiday season that’s full of warmth, gratitude, and connection.
From all of us at fabric, we wish you a 2025 filled with hope, stability, and joy. Let’s make it a year to remember!!!
Happy holidays,
Jay Topper
